So I was able to use WiFi for a few months. Then, suddenly (last November) one day I couldn't get on....the browser said "cannot display" even though the signal strength was good and when clicking on my linksys icon it said that I was connected to the access point and the internet. A couple days went by without me being able to access the internet and then, out of nowhere, this thing popped up that said "would you like to switch to being able to detect the IP address automatically" and I clicked "yes." Then everything worked smoothly again...until a couple days ago. Suddenly, I couldn't access the internet again. So, I'm thinking I need to switch something so it can detect the IP address automatically. But I don't know how to do it unless that thing pops up again which it's not doing. I'm running Windows 98. Could someone please suggest something so I can get it running smoothly again? Thanks so much!

I use Internet Explorer. Under tools, hit Internet Options, then click Connections. For GP, I always rehit Never Dial, then at bottom, hit LAN settings, click on automatically detect settings, but under Proxy Server (click in on also), make sure you put in the 10.0.0.4 (no port necessary). I have not been able to get the browser "Outlook" up at all, been told I will have to pay (somebody) to do so.

Hit OK for all, You done!

However, I remember that time in Nov., we were having that storm. When weather is bad, connections are not stable, towers go down, which seem to upset our "server" that connects us all. These are not usually fixed until "next business day". Think of them as "snow days".

Right now we been having winds, we were off all day Sunday, got on for awhile yesterday, now today I can only access this forum and sign on (so far). All morning, been going back to sign in page each time I try to access my mail. Perhaps, sometime this afternoon?

I have no idea what "spam" the other responders are talking about, I think this will help you out.
